I cant even begin to tell you how much Jenn and I were looking forward to our 1st Christmas "together", just jenn and I, no traveling, no friends, no family... just us, ahhhh, a day to relax and be lazy... Sounded great until 1:30am Christmas morning when from the bathroom, my lovely wife, in not her nicest tone, yells "TRAAAAVIS!". My eyes popped open and i ran to the bathroom, only to find my beloved intimately cuddled with the toilet. She preceded to vomit every hour on the hour until noon on christmas day. Needless to say, we spent our very first christmas sprawled out on the bathroom floor... sleeping and puking. Memorable? Yes. Enjoyable? No. Figuring Jenna had a case of food poisioning or even the flu, i politely said "just the flu, you'll get over it soon enough"... to which i learned one of those very valuable 'first-year-of-marriage' husband lessons: keep those types of comments to myself. (who knew?)...
After 48 hours of stomach cramps, back-aches, and lots of vomiting, jenna woke up early in the morning in suddenly much more severe pain. For those of you who know what a colicky horse looks like... that was Jenna! It was that point in which i decided, "this probably isnt the flu" (genious, i know). We spent the rest of the day in the Emergency Room, where Jenn was diagnosed with a kidney stone that was 9mm!... in the world of kidney stones, thats huge! After being told by 3 different doctors that the pain she was experiencing was worse than the pain from child birth, i was assured (in jenn's not so nice tone) we were NEVER having kids.
In the end, Jenn had a procedure done, called lithotripsy, to break up the stone to small pieces that are easily passable. And almost immediately after anesthesia, she was a brand new woman! See the pictures below as Jenna awoke from anesthesia (ha!). Quite possibly the hardest i've laughed in all of 2008! Jenn's back to laughing too... fisty as ever!
