For our 3 year anniversary I decided to Surprise Travis with a weekend stay-cation getaway!
I secretly packed Travis and had everything we would both need hidden in the trunk.
When we got into the car all he knew was that I had a small backpack in the back seat (I used this as a way to keep him off of my trail) - I tricked him good!
First stop - Planet Sub!
We visited our first Planet Sub in Manhattan, KS and we fell in love with it at first BITE!
I thought this would be a fun place to take him on our anniversary surprise.
Of course we got it to-go, so that we could enjoy it at our next destination...
Talking Stick Resort & Casino!
When we pulled in, Travis thought I was taking him gambling.
Haha, he had no clue it was a resort too.
Once we got out of the car I opened the trunk and surprised him with his packed bag for the weekend and a cooler of snacks and drinks!
He was so shocked that I pulled this off.
I guess I shouldn't take all of the credit. My husband is so trusting and simple that he :
A. Wouldn't think to search the house for clues.
B. Wouldn't ask me for clues.
C. Would never have thought that I had planned something
like a stay-cation for us in AZ.

Because the resort is only a year old - the rooms and accommodations are extremely nice!
(As you know I love the small details -
look at our welcome on the phone - too cute!)
Enough time inside - let's check out the pool!
Travis enjoyed his Planet Sub!
They even had an umbrella for me :)
We had the best time swimming and lounging by the pool - something the 2 of us never do!
(I bought us fedoras to wear by the pool - I know I am a dork!)
After an afternoon of relaxation, it was time for another Surprise...
We needed to get back to the room and get ready for a night out on the town!
For our Anniversary gift, my parents gave us a 4-course dinner at:
Meritage Steakhouse located at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge!

The cuisine, ambiance and company was incredible!
It was the perfect gift!
We even enjoyed CHAMPAGNE (my favorite) :)
We also had the best waiter! Thanks Aaron :)
Since it was our special celebration night - the restaurant treated us like Royalty!
We couldn't just go to dinner at this spectacular resort, we had to enjoy the premises too!
The JW Marriott Desert Ridge holds a special place in our hearts because it is the location that we filmed 'Our Love Story' that was played at our wedding.
(What a special twist)
We ended the night back in comfy clothes, enjoying the amenities of Talking Stick -
~Dueling Pianos~
2 Talented pianist played until they couldn't anymore.
We loved how entertaining they were and how interactive they made it for the crowd.
The next day we layed by the pool and soaked up more sun and fun together!
What a fabulous weekend!
Funny Side Note : Thunder Down Under was the show playing our weekend at Talking Stick, so we had the pleasure of sharing the pool with the Australian Studs.
They put on quite a show -haha!!!
