Trav's Golden Birthday!!!

That's right, Travis turned 26 on the 26th!
He had a wonderful day filled with lots of love! Starting with cherished phone calls from all of his family and friends, his clinical oncology rotation took him out for breakfast, he had blue-confetti cupcakes brought to him at work from his wife, lunch brought to him at school, etc.
Then a night out with his friends. We took him to dinner at So-Long-Saloon, followed by Sangria at Coco Bolo's and of course more laughter and celebration at the CatHouse! We had a ball!
I think Travis enjoyed turning 26!

Christmas Tree Shopping

Since we are newlyweds we do not own a Christmas Tree, and with Christmas right around the corner we decided to go pick one out at our handy-dandy Christmas Headquarters. So we jumped in the Hyundai and headed over to our neighborhood Walmart.
Walmart has a fabulous Christmas Tree selection! They offer a full-size tree display area to make it easy on the buyer when looking for that perfect tree. Which we did... we fell in love with this 4-foot, pre-lit, Indiana Spruce - isn't she a beauty!
Once we found our Christmas Tree, we decided to pick up a few other necessities... such as a tree topper and skirt. We decided to go with a sparkly snowflake theme. (Since we now live in a location that gets snowflakes!) While shopping around we decided to become Santa's little helper and a Reindeer. (We had way too much fun!)
When we finally got all of our shopping done, all that we had left to do was to get our new Christmas Tree home for some decorating!

THE FINISHED TREE!!!

NOW OUR HOME HAS A CHRISTMAS FEEL TO IT!!!

Trav, was it really worth it ???

As we were driving to church this morning Travis spotted a dead buck on the side of the road. He swerved over a lane to get us in a ditch so that he could go back for it- without even thinking. Now picture this, we are dressed in our Sunday best and he wants to go cut-off the head of this buck for its antlers (why anyone would want antlers of a buck they didn't kill themselves, beats me). Then Travis proceeds to say, " Honey, you go on to church I will meet you there once I am done here." Crazy, I know! Of course he knew that wouldn't fly so instead he just covered the buck up in the brush so that he could come back for it after church.
(See the below photos of Travis hiding the buck carcass in the brush...)
When we got home from church Travis changed and hopped in his truck to go back for the buck head. Which he got. Here is where the problems arise. Someone in our apartment saw the head in the back of Travis' truck and called wildlife authorities. So about an hour later while I was minding my own business and Travis was taking an afternoon nap. I answered the door to two wildlife rangers who asked specifically for Travis by name.
I woke him up from his nap by telling him that wildlife police were at the door for him (he thought I was lying and made the whole situation up - yeah, I made that up!) Once he met the officers at our door he explained the situation and he had to hand over the head and drive them over to the site where he found the animal carcass. Travis was not in trouble and image it, Travis became friends with the officers and talked hunting with them for another 15minutes after the whole situation was said and done. But, since he bothered someone enough to call it in - they had to confiscate the head... good thing we got the photo when we did.
Never a dull minute with Travis.
