Walking in a WINTER WONDERLAND

The snow FINALLY ARRIVED!

We woke up this morning at 7am to a WINTER WONDERLAND outside! So we jumped out of bed and threw on our snow gear; we were not missing out on this opportunity. The temperature outside was 12 degrees but the news predicted it truly felt like 4 degrees. (Which we would have to agree with!) It was beautiful and so much fun! I am so glad we got to experience it before the Spring hits.

Brookville Hotel:Abeline, Kansas

We drove to Abeline, Kansas, a nearby town last night to have dinner with friends at the Brookville Hotel. The Brookville Hotel is not actually a hotel it is a restaurant replica of the original Brookville Hotel. The inside of the restaurant had a 1800's feel as well as the waitress' dressed like they were serving us in the 1800's. It was very special. The restaurant is known for its family style chicken dinners. (KFC who?) Everything was homemade and delicious, which made for a very fun experience! (Now we have visited two other cities in Kansas besides Manhattan!)

Travis' New Hobby

Travis has picked up a new hobby - Photography!

Our friend Chris is a professional photographer and he has been taking the time to teach Travis the ins-and-outs of photography. There is a lot to know and understand when using such a high-tech piece of machinery, so Travis is enjoying the exploration. See some of Travis' gems from his first photo shoot! (He is doing great!)

Taste-Around

A couple of weeks ago we went to a fund-raiser/Taste-Around at our church. (A taste-around is an event where all of the guests bring a dish/dishes to share. You have the opportunity to then go around tasting the dishes that interest you, and at the end you can pick up the recipes for the dishes you would like to try at home.) I thoroughly enjoyed making my two favorite dessert dishes to share; the Sugar Cookie-Fruit Tart and my Moist Chocolate Chip Cake. YUMMY!!!(pictured below)

Our 1st Valentine's Day

Travis and I had a great Valentines Day, it was fun spending time together. We went to a Mongolian Grill for dinner, which was very entertaining! We loved picking out all of he food we wanted and then watching the cooks grill it up in front of us.

We followed dinner with coffee at our favorite local spot and ended the night at the movies. We saw the movie 'Taken' which was fabulous! (Travis liked it so much he stayed awake through the whole thing - I can not name the last time he made it through a FULL movie!) It was a perfect date night!

The 3lb Will Ferrell Burger

For Chris' birthday we surprised him with a luncheon consisting of 18 people at Kites. The major surprise of the lunch wasn't all of us showing up, but instead what he would be eating. He was going to try to master the 'Will Ferrell 3lb burger.' IT WAS GIGANTIC!

Well needless to say Chris only made it through half of the $35 monstrosity, but even that was a lot. It was a fun afternoon and we were glad to have shared his special day with him.
